New Album Up is out!

Saxophonist Bear Garden's music moves like a chameleon between a progressive expression, jazz and a modern, pop sound. This autumn, the single "Up" was chosen as "Beat of the week" on BBC 6 Music and was played several times on BBC Radio - a natural consequence of an intense year for the artist with a European tour and gigs in Sweden at, among others, Trädgården, Debaser and with Teodor Wolgers on Way Out West. In parallel with the international scene starting to pay more and more attention to Bear Garden, he has been noticed at home by Jan Gradvall in DI and played in P3's more eclectic mixes. On February 23, 2024, Bear Gardens' new, third album "Up" will be released.

Songs like "Up" and "Hey Ye Ye Yeah" contain vocals and choir, likewise "Got To Let it Go" which is also based on synths and programming and according to Martin Wirén, Bear Garden himself; "It was a fun experiment that just worked and created an interesting sound, I like to try a lot of things, and in the studio there are no 'bad ideas', I try everything that I hear in my head and decide afterwards."

In "Night Creatures", the high, floating notes of the sax are a contrast to the hard and noisy drums, as are Drama Queen, Countryside Lights and Snowy Forests, which is a dynamic arrangement that builds up the leading pattern again and again into a high-intensity ending.

“Creeks of Hope” is the album's biggest arrangement; saxophone, a lot of woodwind and brass that sometimes move freely against the tempo and paint a sentimental and dreamy picture.

The last song on Part 1, "Farewell", is dedicated to Martin's recently deceased family members and the longing for them.

The album's most peculiar song, which also divides the album into chapters 1 and 2, "Earth" is based on a technique Martin developed over 10 years; painting chords, arpeggios, in clear patterns played with circular breathing for several minutes. In the past year, "Earth" has gone viral on e.g. Tik Tok with 3.4 million views and Bear Garden currently has 17,000 followers on that platform.

The album "Up" is an album of chapters and contrasts, Part 1 the brighter, lighter one that transitions into Part 2 the darker and more high intensity.

After the release, a Sweden tour awaits March 9th in Stockholm at Södra Teatern, March 15th in Malmö at Plan B, March 16 in Copenhagen at Huset and March 22nd in Gothenburg at Pustervik.
